Prairie Seasons Bakery/Cafe supports organic agriculture. We do our best to preserve the connection between the land, the baker and you, the customer.
We know the farmers who grow our Organic Manitoba Grains personally. Supporting them is of utmost importance to us.
The heart of Prairie Seasons is our breads and using Certified Organic Grains exclusively, we mill our whole grain flours each day with our granite mill.
Providing the Best of Locally Grown
Whole Wheat Multigrain: (Our best selling loaf) we use the whole grain, nothing sifted off after we mill the Organic grains. We include all the fiber, bran and wheat germ; additionally add: Organic Millet, Sunflower Seeds, Flax and Poppy Seed. This loaf is dairy and sugar free.
Whole Wheat Bread: the same goodness as the multigrain excluding the seed mixture.
Sunflower Special Bread: On the lighter side, this great tasting bread is made with 80% Organic White Flour, the Organic white has been sifted only once to ensure most of the bran and wheat germ are preserved, 20% Organic Whole Wheat Flour, not sifted thus preserving all the fiber. Add the crunch of Sunflower Seeds, Organic Millet, Organic Flax Seed and Poppy Seed. It is sweetened with honey and has no dairy.
Light Sourdough Rye & Pumpernickel Rye: The tang of sourdough, add the sweetness of caraway seed and combine with Wholesome Organic Rye Flour and Organic Whole Wheat. No Dairy, no sweetener and no oil.
Country White Bread: Made with Organic White Flour sifted only once, some wheat germ and specks of bran remain. Sweetened with honey and contains no dairy.
Hutterite Buns: Traditionally name after our Hutterite heritage. This sweet and rich dinner roll is a tradition on every Hutterite Colony. At Prairie Seasons, we offer 3 varieties made daily: White, Whole Wheat, and Multigrain.
Some specialty breads made on different occasions and for special order: Wild Rice Bread, Flax Bread, Savory Sourdough, Yeast-Free Varieties and Wheat-Free Varieties.
For those with Gluten and Wheat Allergies we do a variety of Wheat Free Products as well! From delicious loaves of bread, Gluten Free Cinnamon Buns, and a moist and delicious brownie. Please call to ensure fresh baked product, and we will answer your questions and would love to take your order.
**Spelt Bread: We make a delicious Spelt loaf that people from all around the province come for this particular loaf! It is made with 100% Certified Organic Spelt Grain.

What is Spelt? Spelt is one of the oldest cereal grains known to man. This “Ancient Grain” which is mentioned in the Old Testament, is established to be over 9,000 years old. It has a place in the history of mankind’s search for healthy and appealing foods which is unrivaled by any other grain.
What does Spelt Taste Like? Spelt has a mild nutty flavor, which makes it a favorite in whole grain breads. Its popularity is partly due to its flavor and partly because it has a wonderful nutritional profile.
What are Spelt health benefits?
• Since the gluten protein in spelt is more easily digested the body readily absorbs these nutrients.
• Its composition makes Spelt more easily tolerated by people with Wheat Allergies, a common condition.
• Spelt is an excellent source of protein. It has delicate and easy digested gluten, and is a source of many essential amino acids. Spelt also contains mucopolyscaccharides, which help stimulate the immune system.
